On Friday 2nd October 2026, the German Ambassador’s residence in Nairobi welcomed guests for a celebration of German Unity Day, commemorating 36 years since the reunification of East and West Germany. Hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Sebastian Groth, the reception brought together diplomats, government representatives and friends of Germany to reflect on the value of unity and friendship.
In the Embassy’s National Day message, Ambassador Groth looked to the longstanding partnership between Germany and Kenya, the connections that sustain it today and the opportunities ahead. Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui, joined the celebration and reaffirmed the countries’ commitment to closer cooperation.
From trade and investment to climate action, skills and culture, the Kenya/Germany relationship continues to open doors. We thank the Embassy for its warm hospitality and look forward to the collaborations ahead.
